FAQ
Anyone can be seen but if you already have a family doctor we encourage you to visit him or her if your situation is not critical.
The clinic operates on a first come, first served basis. You may call the clinic one hour prior to each clinic opening to make same day appointments.
Please bring your health card with you. If you are from another province your valid health card will be accepted (except for Quebec which does not allow inter-provincial billing). There is a $50 fee charged for those without a valid health card, who are from Quebec or who reside outside Canada. It is also important to bring a list of medications along with dosages and any allergies you may have.
No. Most of the medical services are covered by our provincial medical plan (MSI) so it is important to bring your health card with you. A fee will be applied for some services not covered by MSI. Click here for a full list of fees for non-MSI services. It is also posted at the clinic and on our Facebook page. We accept cash, credit or debit.
The doctor or nurse practitioner will provide stitches. There will be no charge for supplies unless you are an out of country resident.
Some vaccines provided by public health such as measles and tetanus can be provided at the clinic. If you have vaccination records please bring them with you. The physician might need to order blood tests to ensure you are not allergic to the vaccination being requested.
Vaccinations for Hepatitis A&B can be provided by the Chester Pharmasave on payment of a fee. B12 and depo-provera injections are available however the patient must supply medication for injections.
With your permission, a copy of the test result will be sent to your family physician. You may also have a copy. If the result comes back abnormal you will be notified and given the option to return to the clinic or to follow up with your family doctor. If the result is normal you will not be called.
Usually a 30 day refill on an existing medication will be provided so you can avoid an interruption in your medication until you are able to see your regular family doctor. NARCOTIC PRESCRIPTIONS WILL NOT be dispensed in the walk-in clinic. You must see the doctor who prescribed it.
